Did you forget how to solve for x?

Here’s a quick review course.

To solve the equation x-8 = 20, add 8 to each side of the equation. Thus x – 8 + 8 = 20 +8. So, x = 28.

To solve the equation, x + 8 = 20, subtract 8 from each side of the equation. Thus, x + 8 – 8 = 20 – 8,. So, x = 12.

To solve the equation 4x = 16, divide each side of the equation by 4 in order to isolate the x. Thus, 4x/4 = 16/4. So, x = 4.

To solve the equation x/3 = 40, multiply each side of the equation by 3 in order to isolate the x. Thus, x/3 x 3 = 40 x 3. Therefore, x = 120.
